Why work with NTPC?

Work With Us!

We are committed to helping exceptional people realize their potential. We value teamwork, customer service, accountability, and integrity.

Working in the North is an experience like no other. Once you are here, you will not want to leave. It's a work environment and lifestyle comparable to none. If you enjoy the outdoors, volunteering, coaching or sports, we are sure you'll be happy here.

NTPC has offices in five larger NWT communities: Inuvik, Yellowknife, Fort Simpson, Hay River and Fort Smith. It's likely you'll find a job based in one of these communities.

About NTPC

NTPC distributes electricity to end-use consumers in 26 of the 33 communities in the NWT and supplies electricity on a wholesale basis to two distributing utilities which, in turn, retail electricity to customers in Yellowknife and the Hay River area. NTPC's facilities include hydroelectric, diesel, and LNG (liquefied natural gas) generation plants, transmission systems and numerous isolated electrical distribution systems. NTPC also owns and operates alternative energy assets used for the supply of residual heat, solar power and co-generation.

The Corporation's systems serve a population of approximately 43,000 in an area of 1.3 million square kilometers. Many of the communities NTPC serves are only accessible by air, barge or winter road.

Benefits

Relocation Assistance

Unemployment in the NWT is at an all time low. One of the ways we attract employees is to pay for the majority of relocation expenses you would encounter moving North or from one NWT community to the next.

We understand that the cost of living may be a concern. However, with northern tax allowances our costs are lower than you might think. In addition, our generous accommodation and location allowances further reduce the cost of living.

Employee Benefits

All our employees are entitled to an attractive benefits program including dental and extended medical coverage, as well as life and disability insurance. Our vacation leave program starts at three weeks and increases to four weeks after two years.

We offer a "defined benefit" pension plan related to your earnings and service – the greater your earnings and the longer your service, the greater your pension. Employees participate in the Federal Superannuation Pension Plan.
